Today I had the opportunity to sample, and now review, Auntie Anne’s Honey Whole Wheat Pretzel (limited time).
Let me throw this disclaimer out there: I LOVE LOVE LOVE Auntie Anne’s pretzels. They are a mall-going weakness for me. The soft pretzel baked to golden perfection and then given a bath in butter….oh my YES!! Who can ask for any more perfect snack?!
Then came the offer to sample and then blog about the NEW Honey Whole Wheat Pretzel.
My first thought was : “YES!! “
Then I thought? : “Why mess with perfection?”
Then I thought: “They are going to mess up my love affair with Auntie Anne’s by giving me a hard, tough, whole wheat pretzel masked as Auntie Anne’s yumminess.”
So off to the mall my youngest two and I went. Pretzels were acquired, photos were taken for the blog and the tasting began.
OH MY!!! I was NOT disappointed!!!

The Honey Whole Wheat pretzel had all the same soft, tender inner of the classic pretzel I have adored for years.
Same crispy edges where the pretzel touches the baking sheet.
Same saltiness of the classic pretzel salt.
And the butter! Oh the butter. This pretzel had just enough butter. Not enough to want a napkin but enough for me to want to lick my fingers.
The only difference was the whole wheat. The whole wheat flour used gave the pretzel a slight difference in texture that said ‘whole wheat’ with out screaming ‘I AM A WHOLE WHEAT SNACK!”.
You know what I mean.
Some whole wheat products are so ‘whole wheat’ that it is like eating the wheat off the shaft. You chew and chew and chew and by the end of your bite you are wondering if that extra lap or two around the track would be worth having a snack with less whole wheat.
BUT NOT THIS SNACK!
Dare I say I liked this Honey Whole Wheat pretzel BETTER than the classic? (*shock*)
The honey whole wheat is a winner for me and my family. Way to Go Auntie Anne! You have another winner!
