    Hey, Sarah!

So, my big question is. . . Is there a cheap way to build a garden bed? We’re planning on setting up our garden this weekend, and I’m panicing about cost. Which will be cheaper — raised bed or sunken bed lined with chicken wire to keep out burrowing critters and chicken wire fence to keep the bunnies out? Do I need to put together that soil mix that SFGer recommends or can I just use good ‘ole SCPA soil? Whatcha got?

BTW, Jason told me about your chickens. I’m so jealous. I don’t think our neighbors would go for that. I miss our warm, freshly-laid egg days.

We do square foot gardening. After the initial start up costs of wood and dirt, it really saves money and time. We do less weeding and it uses less water. We grow our tomatoes in pots even though we have a yard for the same reasons
