My Penny Pinching at Giant
Posted by: Sarah / Category: Uncategorized, coupon, freebie, grocery, penny pincher
I went to Giant this afternoon with coupons in hand and my coupon binder under my arm. I was able to save 51% on my bill. Here is how I did it:
Cheerios were on sale 2/$4 I used 2 coupons for $1 off each.
Steam fresh were on sale 3/$6. I had a coupon for a free one with purchase of a steam meal for 2. I also had 3 coupons for $2 each off a steamfresh meal for 2. But if you notice I don’t have any steam fresh for 2 bags! How did I get to use the coupons? If you look at a bar code you will see there is a bar code at the bottom. A single digit, 5 digits, 5 digits and a single digit. As long as the first 5 digits match the bar code on the product you want to purchase… you can use it! Of course the companies want you to purchase the more expensive item so they put that on the picture. This is how I got all of my steam fresh veggies for free!
The Yoplait yogurts were on sale for .60 each. I had a coupon for .50 off 6…(Giant doubles everything up to .99) so I got $1 off! Then I had an additional coupon for a free yogurt with purchase of 6. FREE!
The Renuzit fragrance beads were on sale for $2.99. I had a coupon for $3 off! FREE! I did not have this coupon pulled when I left home but because I had my coupon binder with me I was able to take advantage of this deal. YIPPIE!
The Rubber Maid square containers were on clearance for $1.79. I think they were originally $3.50 each. I had 2 coupons for $1 each off Rubbermaid product. Once again I was able to use it based on the first 5 digits not on the item pictured. Got them for .79 each. AWESOME!
The ammonia and the rubbing alcohol pictured on the left will be used in a project I will post about soon! Check back to see how much I save with that item!
Todays total: $46.20
Total savings: $23.69
Total out of pocket: $22.83
