How Much Did I Pay For This Stack?

Count them…..15 reams of paper and 1p-touch.  Here is how I did it.  Let’s start with the paper.

p1040420

This is the paper.  It is the 50% recycled Staples brand paper.  Take note of the item #554638…. this is very important.  At my Staples it was 6.99 a ream. I did have to ask a friendly clerk where to find them (BACK of the store but hey, they were there) I bought 15 of them.

  • 15 reams of paper $104.85
  • I had a coupon that came in the mail for $20/$100 purchase.
  • 6% Pa tax $5.10
  • total of $89.95… and a rebate printed out for $5.99 PER ream!!! (rebate #09-77261)  good until MAY!!!! with NO LIMIT!!!!!

THEN I came home and hit the web and submitted my rebate.  I will be getting back….drum roll…$89.85.  15 reams of paper for .10!!!  How many will YOU be picking up?

Now for the P-Touch.  I have been wanting one FOREVER… But I did not want to shell out $50+ bucks for one.  My husband asks me yesterday how much I wanted a P-touch.  I tell him $15 worth…thinking he has found one used on Craigs List. But Oh no!  He has found one at Staples for $20!  YIPPIE!!!

It is a $50 product with a $30 instant rebate. HERE is the link at Staples.  I am not sure how long this deal will last.  I did pinch a few gas pennies and talked with a staples rep online before I went to my local Staples to see that they had one in stock.  Yeah on line help!

In case you were wondering.  After rebate, I paid $20.10 plus tax for this stack.  Normally It would be well over $160.  Yeah Pinching Pennies!

WOW! You got a great deal on that paper. Great job!

  • Lauren

Wow, that is amazing! I am a little intimidated at the idea of making that large a purchase BEFORE the rebates print out…but I’ll see if I can work up the guts!

I just bought 10 reams for 69.90, tax paid (5%) 2.50, had $20.00 off of purchase over $50.00 making my purchase to be $52.40. Rebate of $5.99 x 10= $59.90 so I made $7.50. My gosh, I thank you. I also purchased the label maker but I used my rewards (from ink cartridges 5×3=15) so OOP was 5 for me. I have never been able to do a money maker, thanks.

I went to Staples today after finding a 25/100 Office Depot printable (Staples takes competitor coupons!), and here is what I got.

    Paper x 12= 83.88
    PT1880 Label Maker= 19.99
    PT-70 Label Marker= 19.99
    Subtotal= $123.86
    - $25/100 OD coupon
    - 19.99 PT-70 label maker (they still had signs out for a free PT-70 label maker w/purchase of the 1880 with NO expiration date and this deal ended Saturday, but since it was advertised I got one of these too!)
    New subtotal= $78.87 +3.94 tax = $82.81

After Easy Rebate my total OOP= $10.93!

  • Shellie

Oh, and dont forget ladies, you earn 10% back w/Staples rewards on reams and cases of paper!

  • Shellie

    Sharon,

What an awesome $/$$ coupon you had! I could have done some paper buying damage if Id had a couple of those in hand!

  • Lauren

The 1st Staples I went by said that they were no longer running the rebate (even though he pulled it up on the website and verified the date).

The 2nd Staples I called cannot find the paper even though the computer says it’s in stock.

I have even tried purchasing online and when I enter the item #, the result it gives me is item #756972.

Is there another way to go about this?

hmmm frustrating! If the 1st Staples has it in stock and you can have it in hand…I would purchase 1 and see if a rebate form prints out at the end. If so, I would say that the person who told you they were “no longer running the rebate” was wrong. If the rebate prints out I would go back and pick up as much paper as you had originally wanted to purchase. If no rebate prints out then return the paper you just bought. Smile through the whole transaction! :)
With Stapes #2… it sounds like they are disorganized. Perhaps if you went back there might be a more persistent per to help you find your paper. Keep in mind I found my paper in the back on an end cap. Best of luck and let me know how this works out for you!

Here’s my update…when I actually walked into Staples #2, there were several employees who had been searching for the paper for me. Success!!!

I bought 7 reams @$6.99 and my rebate receipt printed out following the transaction. I have submitted my rebate and I am awaiting approval of $5.99 per ream!

When all is said and done, I will have paid approx $1.00 per ream!

    Thank you for your advice!
